Manchester Artist Focus

The city of Manchester has historically been home to some of the finest musical output in modern musical history. We’re more than all aware of the Manchester bands that have conquered the world with their sounds and the legendary nightclubs that the city has been home too.

Here at Audio Farm, although our festival home resides on our beautiful farm in Kidderminster we feel a strong connection with our Mancunian musical family with a large percentage of our lineup finding the north western powerhouse of a city their home. Check below to find out a little bit more about a handful of those artists who you should definitely check out at this year’s edition of Audio Farm.

Blasha & Allatt

One of most important DJ duos in the north west of England, Blasha & Allatt have become a staple in the techno scene now much further afield, cementing their place as two of the most ferocious DJs on the circuit when it comes to anything hard, fast and a little bit dark. They make up 50% of the Meat Free crew whom, if you haven’t heard already, supply Manchester with some of the biggest and best events over the past decade. They’ve now teamed up with Luke Daniels for their queer techno throwdown Frixxxion at The White Hotel, and have an exciting summer across the festival circuit ahead. Don’t miss out when they take to the booth in September.

OneFiveEight

OneFiveEight started as a collection of like minded folk, looking for new ways to collaborate artistically – or simply create great parties together. This went on to spawn various club nights across the northwest and culminated in the creation of the Herbal Sessions Soundsystem back in 2008. The music and parties created the bond between the members of OneFiveEight, but creativity originally brought them together, so they went on to curate several Art Exhibitions in venues across Manchester. These events were underground gatherings of unknown artists, and offered a platform for new talent to be highlighted in the city. Often booze fuelled and loud, these exhibitions were far from the stuffy elitist nature of galleries and museums.

For OneFiveEight’s Audio Farm debut, they will be bringing a full crew including MrBreen, Vague David and the Kweefster mixing anything from Dub Disco Chuggers and House Nuggets, through to Wordwide Bass Business and Afrocentric Rhythms.

Dischi

We’re over the moon to welcome an artists that have been making waves in Manchester recently and are producing sounds that have been described as ‘electro-soul badman fusion with an infectious beat’. This is the second time the duo which consists of Demi Baitsy and Chia Kali take to the Audio Farm stage and with a really strong year of various live shows under their belt, it’s going to a magical moment when their live set streams out of the speakers at Hopton Court. If you can’t wait until the festival, head down to Hulme on June 18th for Green Island Festival where they feature alongside KU’UMBA.

Bloc2Bloc

Radio has been everpresent in Manchester’s musical makeup throughout it’s history, creating communities, supporting grassroots talent and spreading the word about it’s local musicians globally. That idea is something that resonates with Audio Farm ethos to it’s core. And as most of you know we’re also pretty fans of that new and school drum & bass sound. So it made sense for us to invite the dnb crew Bloc2Bloc as one of our many hosts at this years event. They’ve put together an unstoppable lineup together which includes jack Banner, Jazzy Lioness, Obscura, Seeka, L.E and Yazmin C.

Supernature Disco

Party purveyors and all round disco delights, Supernature DJs will be joining us and celebrating all things funky and fresh from the worlds of house and disco. The Supernature crew are known for bringing the energy during their daytime Sunday parties in the city of Manchester which operate frequently throughout the year, touching base with various different venues but maintaining their consistent flow of feel good vibes throughout. Having supported some of the biggest and most reputable artists they’re no strangers to the big stage and playing some of the finest tracks to an array of crowds.
